Default Post your Fort Aspenwood Build

Just thought I'd make a thread for the Assassins out there struggling to pull they're weight in FA. I know I'm one of them.


Post your FA build here, I'm struggling with my assassin, I just find other classes seem to be a lot more useful in this area then me but maybe I'm wrong so I want to see what other assassins are doing out there.


Here's the build I use, mainly on the Kurzick Side. I basically go around killing healers, MM, and any other targets that I find are dangerous.


Palm Strike
Trampling Ox
Falling Spider
Horns of the Ox
Falling Lotus Strike
Flurry
Twisting Fangs
Feigned Neutrality or Dash

That said, isn't Shadow Prison a little weak as your elite? Dark Prison offers the same benefits and I reckon that your foe will be just as dead trying to get away from you with a 33% speed reduction as with a 66%. Also, the 5 second difference in recharge offers no real advantage.

PS I like the way you're being controversial and putting an FA thread in the PvE section. Bravo.

when I play kurz and want to derp around with my ele, I just put 13 ES and 12 protection

GoLE
shield of regen
protective spirit
shielding hands
RoF
healing breeze
purge conditions
mending

I basically try to just keep one of the NPCs at the gate alive and then gunther if they get it. win just about everytime if another healer is on the team

Jagged/Black Mantis Thrust(black mantis gor slowed down but it's still decent, youmake the call)
Gold fang/Gold Fox/Fox Fangs/wild strike(former 2 with jagged, latter with mantis)
crit strikeTwisting fangs(if you go jagged gold fang go with crit strike, otherwise twisting)

Used to be OP when the offhand attacks and black mantis recharged in 3-4 seconds, but still works well with certain attacks. Mark will telegraph your attack but you'll still kill just about whatever you hit. The First chain, lead>offhand>twisting, happens while they're KD'd, then twisting KDs them again, and by this time the chain is recharged or nearing recharded and you can run though your chain real quick again and KD a third time with horns. If you can live without dash or an ias you can even put shock or iron palm in there. On the kurzick side this knock lock will help you take out the shrines, healers and enemy damage, and has degen for the turtles. On the offense side you can KD lock the antimelee npcs and kill healing kurzicks(or kd lock them) while their npcs are killed.

Also of note, if you're running any martial class(A D W R P)always consider taking I will avenge you in FA, especially on the kurzick team, unless you're doing really really well there will be a constant supply of allied bodies to fuel it, even at 0 strength you get 10 seconds of 25% ias per body and 3 pips of regen, unstrip-able and combine-able with a stance.

Total Health = 590
Total Energy = 50

Build is very versatile. Swap out rip for Ausp if you need more energy. Swap out Rip for Shame for more anti-monk. Can solo cap everything. Lure NPC Wars and Sins with Worry and walk towards turtle. Cast Empathy on Rangers. Lure Jug with Wastrels. Chaos and disenchants on Gunther but focus shut down on healers. Cast Empathy on for anti-melee purposes.

With Drain energy isn't a problem unless the team gets stuck at gunther. That's when you can start to get low on energy which is why I sometimes prefer to bring Auspicious Incantation.

You can swap out drain and rip for Gaze of Contempt but it costs more energy and only works if target is over 50% health.

Languor is for monks but Panic can be used for groups of anything. Psychic Instability is good for the gate eles but it lacks range for groups because its limited to adjacent.


This build works great in FA but it's also nice for noobs to learn mesmer with because there's no interrupts unless you bring PI, and you can learn the skills and shutdown monks while still being able to do damage.

side note: chaos damage ignores armor
(ie chaos storm, wastrels, etc)
